Projects and Expertise
Project strategy
We build projects that improve the lives of Coloradans, particularly projects aligned with the strategic plans of state and local government entities.
We create relationships that are based on a shared passion for improvement and growth.
Design tools
We bring a visual and participatory component to each one of our projects. This means we use Figma, Miro, Asana, Jira, and other industry-standard collaboration and design tools to communicate with our partners and stakeholders.
A selection of our recent work
Design and development of interactive public tool for water sampling plan creation (GCP)
CDPHE (Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment)
A greenfield tool developed by Cornflower Labs and used by elementary schools and childcare centers (over 2,000) in the State of Colorado to select, document, prioritize, and test their water sources for the presence of lead. Subject matter areas contracted for this project included data architecture, data analysis, software development, user experience design, and user interview management.
UX/UI/Accessibility audit and redesign planning for MyBizColorado website (18F and USDS methods)
Colorado SIPA (Statewide Internet Portal Authority)
A comprehensive, human-centered analysis of Colorado's flagship business creation website, including interviews with 27 project stakeholders (including DOR, CDLE, OEDIT and SOS), statistical data analysis of user flow, qualitative analysis of over 1,000 user survey responses, auditing of technical and business processes, and visual redesign mockups. Project results included over 180 proposed usability and accessibility interventions, categorized by level of effort and paired with implementation documentation.
Design and development of environmental permit inspection management system (AWS, Azure)
CDPHE (Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment)
A fully-featured permit and caseload management system for environmental permitting and inspection needs. The project began with a discovery sprint, followed by in-depth user interviews, modern Scrum-based software development, frequent UX/UI testing, and ongoing change management as well as user and manager training.
